Introduced in August 2010, the Fujitsu MB86C31 USB 3.0-SATA Bridge IC features speeds approximately 30 percent faster than the first device in the series, the MB86C30. It incorporates the USB communication control circuits, SATA communication control circuits, protocol-control and command-control circuits, and an encryption/decryption engine. The bridge IC improves data-transfer rates from external storage devices to PCs by an order of magnitude compared with USB 2.0 devices.
