Actel

Actel supplies low-power and mixed-signal flash FPGAs. Actel flash FPGAS support ARM and 8051 processors, including a license- and royalty-free, 32-bit, FPGA-optimized ARM Cortex-M1 soft processor as well as a the hard-gate 100- MHz 32-bit Cortex-M3 on Actel's SmartFusion intelligent mixed-signal FPGA. The company's low-power ProASIC3L FPGAs feature 40% and 90% lower dynamic and static power, respectively, than its ProASIC3 FPGAs. Actel's Igloo PLUS family of FPGAs focuses on power-, area-, logic- and feature-per-I/O ratios in a programmable device.

On the tool side, Actel's Libero IDE (integrated development environment) supports power-driven layout, advanced power analysis, and battery-life estimation, to enable designers to identify and reduce sources of power consumption within their designs. Actel and its partners support software development with Actel's Eclipse-based SoftConsole software IDE, RealView tools from ARM, and Embedded Workshop for ARM (EWARM) from IAR.
