The XC2200 family of 16-bit microcontrollers targets the requirements for automotive body and gateway applications. Based on the C166S V2 architecture and offering DSP-level performance, the product family features a CPU that provides up to 100 MIPS processing power; and a peripheral set that supports automatic CAN (Control Area Network) gateway functionality and light bulb supervision without engaging the CPU load. Further characteristics include AUTOSAR compliance, large memory headroom of up to 1.6-Mbytes, and low power consumption in stand-by mode to preserve the battery's energy consumption. This includes brown-out detection, an ultra-low power clock for a short wake-up time, a wake-up timer, and stand-by SRAM. Short wake-up time combined with low power consumption in stand-by mode is among the key requirements of future BCM applications. Newly added to the family is the N-series for lower pin count lower memory and lower cost applications.
