MC9S08xx

Targets: General Purpose, Other

The MC9S08GB/GT targets electronic power meters, sensors, wireless communications, home appliances, security systems. The GT16A and GT8A integrate up to 2-kbyte of RAM and up to 16-kbytes of flash memory allowing designers greater flexibility and improved performance for managing real-time peripheral interaction. The flash memory voltage level reaches 1.8V to support battery designs. These parts offer drop-in compatibility with the GT family, as well as seamless software migration.

The MC9S08QG family integrates an S08 core, multiple communications options such as SCI, SPI, and I²C, as well as high-resolution analog via an 8-channel 10-bit ADC, and analog comparator. Additional features include a 2-channel 16-bit timer, and internal/external oscillator; LVI; COP and up to 13 GPIOs, as well as multiple memory options ranging from 4- to 8-kbytes of flash memory and up to 512 bytes of RAM.

The MC908GR family targets low-end applications, such as sensors, home appliances, home and industrial security, industrial and consumer communications, control systems, and toys. The MC908GR family includes options for up to 60-kbytes of flash and up to 2-kbytes of RAM. The GR features a 32 kHz integrated oscillator as part of its clock generator module and an on-chip timebase module (TBM) that removes any requirements for an external clock. The HC08 core supports 3- to 5-volt operation and it includes SPI and SCI interfaces with an up to 8-channel, 10-bit ADC.

The MC908GZ microcontrollers are pin-compatible devices and feature an integrated CAN controller for industrial and automotive applications. The family also integrates an enhanced SCI that is capable of emulating both LIN master and LIN slave devices, which makes it suited for automotive applications. The MC908GZ family offers a 10-bit ADC and up to 60-kbytes of automotive-qualified flash. Within the family there is a variety of memory options, from 8- to 60-kbytes of flash, as well as package sizes and temperature ranges that span industrial and automotive specifications.

The MC908JK/JL family provides pin compatibilities across different flash sizes and a migration path to packages with larger I/O count. JL devices have up to 32-pin packages, and the JK devices are in 20-pin packages. They include a HC08 core that supports 3- to 5-volt operation. They include up to 13 channels of 8-bit ADC with memory options ranging from 1.5- to 16-kbytes of flash memory and up to 512 bytes of RAM.

The MC908QB family consists of HC08 devices in small pin count packages. They include 10 channel, 10-bit ADC with memory options ranging from 4- to 8-kbytes of flash memory and up to 256 bytes of RAM. Low-voltage (2.2 volts) devices are available.

The MC908QT/QY family consists of small-packaged HC08 devices ranging from 8- to 16-pins. They include a HC08 core that supports 3- to 5-volt operation. They include up to 10 channels of 10-bit ADC with memory options ranging from 1.5- to 8-kbytes of flash memory and up to 256 bytes of RAM.
